About us

In Babka Deli, in addition to iconic Middle Eastern inspiration, we also go back to the heritage and spirit of the delis of New York, so we offer you really exciting dishes every day of the week!
From morning to evening, we await you with breakfast and brunch dishes, specialty coffee, cakes, special non-alcoholic drinks, and dishes perfect for lunch and dinner. If you don’t have time to eat with here, take our barhes sandwiches and easily packable dishes with you, or make meals at home even better with our creams, mezze, and other specialties. You will find fresh bakery goods, bottled drinks and a variety of deli products from our producers, and you can even pick up a new cookbook with you.

‘Rushing actresses, love dramas, chef wanted’ – this is the story of the building that gives place to Babka Deli at Pozsonyi út 20.
A dairy, bakery and grocery store operated here in the 1930s, and the corner premises were occupied by the Fiumei coffee and tea store. Later the building housed a flower or needlework shop. In the 1950s a vegetable and fruit shop was opened here, where the neighborhood’s beloved aunt Mariska gave cooking advice to the more inexperienced housewives. The apartment building at Pozsonyi út 20 was built according to the plans of Imre Szőke in 1933-34 and looks back on a very colorful and eventful past.

The sister restaurant of Babka Budapest
The Babka Budapest bar and restaurant is one of Újlipótváros’s most popular places. We opened in 2016 at Pozsonyi Street, and our mission has not changed to this day: we dreamed of a homely, light-hearted, friendly place where we want to pamper you with quality gastronomy, first-class coffee and creative, new-generation cocktails.
The Deli is the little sister of the restaurant and is connected to it in many ways. The flavors, the spirit, the hospitality move into the same direction and you can meet many familiar faces at both locations if you have visited Pozsonyi út.
